SoftPEG Windows NT/PowerPC


I have ported the CompCore Softpeg MPEG-1 Player software from MS Windows 3.1 on Pentium to the Windows NT operating system on PowerPC based systems manufactured by IBM, Motorola, and Firepower Systems Inc. This involved resolving some subtle differences in the Microsoft compilers for Pentium and PowerPC and exploiting the Windows NT overlapped IO feature to improve performance from CD-ROM.

This software has been used for demonstrations by IBM, Motorola, and Firepower. It was demonstrated at the Motorola booth at the 1995 COMDEX in Las Vegas. IBM has included a demonstration version of the software in a CD of PowerPC applications. IBM distributes the demo version of the PowerPC player through their PowerPC Bulletin Board ftp://ppcbbs.echips.ibm.com/ntdemo/ . The demo version can be retrieved by anonymous ftp.
